Each piece is meticulously constructed by hand from multiple tiny beads, which are wrapped and ‘woven’ onto chains with hand-made silver pins.
Kate Wood has developed a particularly lovely language around small gemstones and pearls. What looks delicate from a distance becomes surprisingly intricate when you get close enough to understand how much handwork is involved. Tiny sapphires, spinels, emeralds and pearls are clustered and beaded into pieces that retain movement and softness rather than becoming overly formal. We especially like the earrings because the craftsmanship frames the face without visually weighing it down. It is quietly feminine jewelry, but never bland.
