Aiming to take customers on a magical journey, Donatella combines the mystical world of the East with the haute couture principles of the West to create eye-catching statement pieces.
Donatella Balsamo is at her best when she lets herself be generous. Coloured stones, heritage references, carved forms and Eastern influences come together with that wonderfully Italian understanding that sometimes the answer really is one more detail. Yet the strongest pieces never become costume jewelry. We particularly like Jaipur and Mahal because the references feel absorbed rather than copied. This is jewelry we would deliberately put against simple clothes. A white shirt, beautiful trousers, one rather fabulous ring, and very little else. The jewel should be allowed to have the last word.
